can anyone give a rough cost for the valve stem seals doing on a corsa sport 1.6

depends how it's done,
head off or head on,
alot of garages don't have the tools to do it head on. but it's much cheaper.

If you do it with the head on you connect an airline into the spark plug hole to hold the valves up whilst you use another tool to compress the valve spring and remove the collect that holds the valve spring cap to the top of the valve. Only then will you have access to the stem seal. I recently bought the equipment to do it on my Astra. Cost me £35. Have a look at SEALEY tools, they do a whole range of stuff just for this job. But be warned it is fiddley if you do it yourself.

Id take head off and do a proper job and lap valves bk in, if I do a head 4 sum1 its 70 to have skim, stem seals, valves lapped back in and built clean ready to go back on.

A mate paid a garage around £400 i think it was for his doing and it still smoked,mines does the same but just learn to live with it and keep checking your oil every now and then.
