TBH if it broke up whilst removing it....it isn't really their fault as the glowplug was already fucked and broke up.

Those are my thoughts regarding the glow plug too.
Forgot to mention the context of the current issue. Glow plugs have been replaced along with the EGR valve, but it's still running badly on startup so they asked me if I've ever miss-fuelled it as they think there's petrol in the diesel. They're going to take a sample of the fuel to check for contamination.
Could fuel contamination damage glow plugs? It's been pretty recent that it's been running terribly and I've re-fuelled it at the same petrol station every time for a while now...

petrol can cause pre-ignition but you need more than 15% petrol to cause any damage. There are people in cold countries that use up to 20% petrol in their diesels to stop the diesel freezing.

If you're making home-brew alpine diesel then you blend it with heating oil or kerosene.
