Ive said for about 6 months im going to ajoin a gym, yet i keep making excuses (too much golf, and tired after work) And I cant find any motivation to go, thats why ive not joined a gym yet, How do you motivate yourself to go? My mates are students so they have loads of time to go, i found it hard to go after work when I was a member at a gym last year. Thanks

I am the same as you. I find once i have been once or twice, i start to get into it more.

Go straight there after work aswell, dont go home 1st

I found the first month tough to motivate myself but then you see some slight results/improvement etc and it motivates you. I actually enjoy the gym now.

The gym im thinking of joininy is 2 mins away from work

I find it hard to go if I come home before I go the gym so defiantly go the gym straight after work. What are you going the gym for? Aim to build up strength or build stamina. The weight loss or and definition will come with it. It can be a bit of a downer when you've trained really hard, benching more than you ever have etc but still your weight isn't going down. So aiming for more minutes running or higher weights is a constant competition and is more rewarding. If you get what I mean?

I get what you mean, im going to get bigger and stronger/mabye stamina too

Just aim to up your weights then. Don't bother with adding more reps or sets if its easy, add more weight instead

As mentioned, dont go home first. Just keep on the go straight from work then the gains should get you hooked in!

Look in the mirror every day

I do weights at home, which removes the need to travel to the gym if that feels like an extra little reason not to go. Start off small and build up your routine, I've found it easy to keep motivation up, just go a couple of times and as ben said you'll soon see some results and you'll have the bug.

Starting doing some training is the 1st time my addictive personality has come in useful

I cant go to a gym. Tried and its too boring. There is always a good excuse not to go.

I do plenty of outdoor activity instead like mountain biking, football and running plus a bit of manual work at weekends on the farm. Least that way I am doing something I enojy doing and its keeping me fit.

I went for the first time in months tonight.

The totty definitely helps then you are motivated because you know they aren't impressed by your beer belly.

Thats what i used to do.

I used to enjoy being there, it was just the bothering my self to get in the car and drive down
