I wouldn't pick the A3 Quattro, 180bhp isn't enough for the 4wd system, remapped S3 would be miles better

180 is enough, you could always remap it to 200+ too.

I hate mine, seriously.
You buy a VAG car and all you see is this:
17863 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Implausible Signal
P1455 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17864 - Exhaust Gas Temp Regulation for Bank 1: Limit Reached
P1456 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0301 - 35-00 - -
16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P0304 - 35-00 - -
I had the EGT sensor changed last year because of the same fault, so unless the new one has failed it must be something else causing this. The ignition coils are all the new type and were changed because the old ones failed.
I decided to unplug the EGT to see if it still did it and although it isn't fuel dumping it is still pulling back at high speed/revs/temp.
With the EGT unplugged I got this:
16497 - Intake Air Temp. Sensor (G42): Signal too High
P0113 - 35-00 - -
17863 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Implausible Signal
P1455 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
I plugged it back in and now this code won't go away:
17861 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Open or Short to Plus
P1453 - 35-00 - -
FOR THE REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE!!!!!!!

180-220 would be fine for a fwd car, the heavy haldex system needs more than 250bhp to make proper use of it.

Yeah, and you'll spend the rest of your life checking for fault codes like I do.

After owning two S3's it really doesn't tbh.
My old one was 210 and was perfectly fine.
Haldex runs fwd most of the time anyway really.

Heavy system tho? How much can it add really? Couple of hundred lbs at absolute most? Surely the argument should be about power loss through the system or something like that? Whenever I see comments like that I just assume the poster has never owned, driven or probably never even been in one and is just using recycled internet.

I did own a quattro sport for 6 months and its my opinion. The system adds about 150kgs, but effectively its more due to massive transmission losses even when running in fwd as its still turning the prop. If you compare the 180bhp Quattro sport to the FWD 150bhp Sport, theres half a second difference in 0-60, but I bet once rolling the FWD car will be quicker.

Fair enough if you've owned one. You have said tho that the quattro and non are roughly similar speed, so then is it not a question of 4wheel vs 2wheel power? I'll take the 4 (I don't even want to go into the debate about quattro power distribution, etc. lol). I still don't really see where the 'must be at least 250bhp to make proper use of quattro' comes from though, what's that all about? lol Where's the figure from?
I will say however that the first thing I did was get my quattro remapped. Out of the box they're not overly hot, but neither are the 150's. Also, if the budget allowed I'd get an S3 over anything mentioned, so I do agree with you to an extent, ant, but it's not because of minimum power levels for quattro, they just look the dogs

I just think its a little wasted having AWD with less than 250bhp. The LCR was fine as FWD with 225bhp

Civic is N/A, that's why. I used to rev the tits of my old Fiat Punto 1.2 and never had a problem
Pretty sure it's just my TIP collapsing under load. Hoping a silicone TIP will fix it.
