Do many people use wireless cards inside their desktop PCs these days?

The ones I've come across that have these cards don't seem to pick up a good signal unless the PC is on the desk as opposed to being on the floor/under the desk, or they are using some kind of extended aerial.

Just wondered what other people's thoughts/experiences were on these.

Yeah, mine's wireless, was a lot easier that way with the router location. I've got a N router and N card in my desktop and it's rapid, no complaints at all. Oh, my PC is also inside a shelving unit with a TV above it etc. and I stream from that PC to my xbox all done over the wireless. Nothing is wired in my house anymore.

I picked this card specifically because I could use it with commview to crack networks too It's a cool card tho. If I remember right and this is totally off the top of my head, it's a D-link DWA-547. Looks like the one on google images with 3 aerials anyway. The N router is just what TalkTalk gave me. Connects at 300Mbps anyway.

Think they're £50+ in shops, but £25 buy now on ebay.

Used to be the case with b/g - it's a completely different story now with n technology. n is brilliant, from my pc (wireless, furthest room from router on another level and tucked in a entertainment unit) to laptop (wired) and iirc it was transferring files at around 8-9MB/s.

With b/g that would be about 400KB/s

I'm using a deal extreme packet injection capable one just now because I've not ran a cable yet and it's been fine tbh, can't remember it cutting off, transfer rates aren't amazing though.
