A friend of mine is getting married next year (24th July)... and he's asked me and his older brother to be best men...
I've never been a best man before (although been to weddings before and seen the speech etc). And my question is what are the responsibilities of being a best man and what does it intel other than the usual look after the rings and speech etc!?
I get the feeling we need to start sorting things for the stag do as well?

my mate whos moved down to london was going to be mine but dont think he's gunna make it up here so its a toss up between the lasses two brothers, never gave it a thought of having both of them, didnt think you could. do you not mean a usher?

I've seen 2 best men loads of times.
Best man/men usually...
Arrange Stag do
General helping hand with final preparations for B&G
Moral support for Groom
Get the Groom to the church
Organise the ushers etc on the day
Look after rings until needed
Escort Chief bridesmaid out of church
Help to organise people for photo's
The final speech after FOB and Groom
In speech you may need to read out any cards/email that the family want you to
Also you traditionally respond on behalf of the Bridesmaids to the comments that traditionally the FOB says in his speech.
Toast B&G
Then basically act as helping hand to B&G throughout the day/night and make any announcements as required.

well it's a strange one this... he asked me to be best man last year and I accepted then a few months later he said that his brother is also going to be best man!?
I think that I will be the actual 'Best Man' but his brother is just going to work alongside me to get things sorted for the wedding... although I'll need to clarify this with him!

the speech worked well with them playing off the back of eachother
best man role is to make sure everything goes smoothly on the day, tell people where to be etc

I was my best pal's best man 2 week ago. Stag do and speech are the main points, then rest is really dependant on your relationship and how involved you are in the day, if its a church wedding then there is certain parts you need to do but you'll have a run through for that.
