Just had a call from an indian woman from the "windows support team"
It was regarding error reports and it was a courtesy call for them to help me fix the errors.
I got as far as typing assoc in CMD, and them trying to tell me one of the process codes was my unique computer code. Which i know is the same on any windows 7 machine. I ended the call after, and got called back twice.
But what are these people after? What will they do if you carry on?
Im assuming they try get you to let them remote access, so they can steal info?

Keep them on the phone as long as possible by talking bullshit to them, change the topic of conversation, make up stories etc. Be a fucking weirdo for as long as possible.

Cunts aint they. To be honest, to begin with, i was quite took in, and i usualy steer well clear of these calls.
She was telling me she would confirm she was from the real team and not some fake by confirming unique details. thats the only reason i stayed on the call to begin with. I was never gonna change anything etc, i have a decent grasp of pc's etc, so wasnt at risk.
I can see alot of "older" people like my mum being fooled by these people :/

I get these calls all the time, probably about 5 a week.
Remote access is one of the things but the other is telling people a web address with some software that will cure the critical errors, they then installt that after they paid about £150 and get a nasty virus.
Mircosoft will NEVER call you !
Last time I said which pc has the errors because I have a few to which they replied "all of them"
Another time I asked what operating system was affected and they said "windows 8 and windows 10"
And it's always 47% critical errors when they phone me.

I had to format a friends sisters PC the other week because of this.
Her fella only let them remote into the machine. Got him looking through the event logs etc...showing all these 'virus or error' messages and tried to claim they could fix them over the phone for £100+ on his credit card etc.. They were just standard windows system errors/events.
Although he was not soft enough to pay them, they still got remote access to the PC. God knows what they could have installed. I told them the safest option was to format and reinstall.
Still I got some beers and cinema tickets out of them for it.
Might call them again next week and offer my Internet providings services, isn't it.

Friend of mine had them call saying they were using an illegal copy of windows. They were scraping the PC anyway as it was ancient, but i thought it sounded like a scam

They tried the same with my aunty who is the type of person to get scammed like this. Luckily she thought she would check with me first before giving them £100 to "fix" her 3day old laptop

They rang me up months ago saying they are calling about about a windows problem on my computer, I just said sorry, I dont have windows, just a empty room with a door. They got very confused and hung up eventually.

Oh and had many clients who have had these calls, mainly the elderly who are sucked in.
I checked one of them out once, had a genuine website, but the english on it was awfull.
