My mate noticed my fading bumpers and side bump strips.

He told me just to put two coats of plastic primer on them all and then a few coats of the right code paint and it will be great.

Has anyone painted these with the dimpled effect still on them?

No.. but ive seen it before, and it looks shite.

It wont be long before it starts cracking again, as you really need a smooth surface!

defo smooth it, go look at a standard gsi, the bumpers and archs arent shiny cos its dimply. defo smooth them.

right then, i think i'll start with the side strips. Will have to try and smooth them stil in possition though.

Why not just take the sidestrips off, looks much better imo and alot smoother, probably alot cheaper and alot less hassle, removing the glue underneaths a bit of a b*tch mind!

my paint is a little faded, i get the impression i would end up with brighter red stripes underneath!

so you will have brighter strips when you repaint them! dont fuck about smoothin them just give them a key then use pastic primer then high build primer.
