Just a quick question, for people who have done it, I've got the form I can print off to send to DVLA, but is it quicker to just go to a DVLA office and do it? If you posted it off did you send a cheque?

If you've not used it for 3 years and not paid the retention each year you've lost it.

As for OP, changes every week in my experience.

Really they did it there & then??

Not really too bothered about how quickly it comes off, but quicker the better incase it sells quicker than I expect as I don't want to be selling a car with the plate on as I don't want to risk losing it.

I have agreed a sale Tom but the deposit is going on this week, the guy is sound and knows my mates Dad so it's going to be a nice easy sale.

If you go into the office they take the V5 off you and send you it back within 2 weeks usually. They'll change the MOT cert & tax disc there and then tho.

I'll just post it, the nearest DVLA office is a good 10 miles away so I'd only do it if they could do it there and then. I'll print the form out and send it off tomorrow.

Yeh true Jambo but I can't put the plate on the M3 as I don't own it, and won't do until the MPS is sold. So just an extra £25

Did last one with a cheque and post and everything was back within 2 weeks.

Sent it all off again for the mini on tuesday.

Whether you go in or not you still have to wait for the confirmation to come back to put the original plate on and then the logbook to come through.
