Currently got my car on auto trader and the amount of emails I receive saying I'm currently working abroad and only have access to paypal so wont to pay your final price via paypal and get my transport company to collect the car ect ect?

How does this scam work?

you get the money and they get someone to collect the car, then a few weeks/months down the line paypal discover its a dodgy card that has been used and take the cash back leaving your account a minus balance and you have to pay it back, no car and no money

Thinking about it, it wont be the guy buying it from paypal that will sign the V5 etc. So he could say he hasnt got the car, they look at the V5 and its registered to someone else. Then they give him his money back.

This! They won't to scam you, you scam them! On the chance that at the end of them all claiming, 1 might not be successful

haha now that would be pretty funny! On the V5 part i cant understand that as on the front it says this document is not proof of ownership it shows who is responsible for registering and taxing the car

Needless to say i wont be going with it just seems to be the in scam, if they come collect and pay cash they can do what they want with it but like JaffaTB says no doubt be a dodgy card or account

I believe/hope that once the money is physically out of paypal and into your bank account (which has been setup with paypal) that they can't claim it back from your bank account?

I hope so anyway.

Owing paypal thousands is the same as owing it to the bank.
