When you've got something up there and you've run out of stock, what do you do?

I was thinking, to save on paying for another insertion fee, to just bump the price up to £999.99 or something like that.

Thoughts?

Why dont you just still take orders but send the 'customer' a message stating its currently out of stock and will arrive in x amount of weeks.

Can't really as their rules state that anything you sell has to be available.

Also don't want to risk getting negative feedback.

Depends how long you take to re stock it. If you can get it next working day or 2 days like I can, just leave it and message them offering a refund or to wait an extra day. No one ever moaned at me for it.

I tend to ignore most of ebays rules. Everyone else does.

What shop level have you got? Do you list on a never ending style?

Alot of the problem is where you will list in the best match. Longer listing has been running higher it gets. Same with how many sales compared to visitors.

So if u start removing them and re adding them they never get higher up.

You got a decent template? Mine almost doubled my sales when I had it made

I've just got the basic eBay shop, and yeah BIN items are on good 'til cancelled style listings.

How much did your template cost? I spoke to someone at Frooition or whatever they're called, they gave me a rough estimate of at least £1k to design me a template

Yea I went to them and told them to get fucked.

If your about later I'll have a look at who it was. Can't remember now. It was about 120 quid I think. They do both listing and the shop itself.

What I do with my shop, is if i'm running out of stock (5 left), I'll put the price up about 200%.

I've done that and people have bought off me , I think its because im a top rated seller though

Because people expect stuff yesterday.
They won't buy it and be happy to wait a few weeks. It's not worth the negative feedback.

Indeed.
I would normally use ebay over online stores as its quicker and easier to pay (via paypal), and most stuff is usually 1-2 days.

My mate sticks the price up on his stuff, then he gets angry messages off people demanding the old price
