How much would anyone say a set of say jenvey throttle bodies will be worth second hand?(Or a similar make) come with xe manifold and management? And another thing will my standard engine cope with them? I've had much to do with them to be honest

With ecu and loom up to 1k or so and typically jenvey make all the direct to head, taper and parallel tbs on market, and engine shud be fine just fit some arp rod bolts and dont rev above 7.5k

your engine will be fine if you stick to the standard rev limit and cams.

Differing from the advice above.... if you plan to rev over standard rev limit (is there any point on standard cams?) consider better rod bolts.

Just fitted some arp bolts What sort of gain will I see of them? Engine is just standard with a sbd type c manifold and a 2.25 powerflow system

The kid wants 600 for his setup not 100% sure what type and what comes with it though think its worth buying? I'm just worried about wiring them up ect

Ive built an xe with stock cams but abit of headwork on jenvey dth bodies, and some sort of ex manifold, made 169@wheels which with 15% losses is 195bhp, standard cams arent bad tbh, and also depends wether bottom end is good

If it was RR'd at AB Garage (which I presume it would've been) then it'd be accurate.

...compared to one that gives you figures you dont agree with?

Not saying it inacurate.... but RR's vary quite a bit and to me 195bhp is quite a feat for a standard C20XE with TB's bolted on (and exhaust)

I had a 2.1 with 8000rpm revlimit, 280deg cams, same manifold and loads more... it made about 200bhp and 190lbft...

That RR may have under read, the 195 over read.... who knows

Maybe..

On the Corsasport RR day a while back mine made 265@fly at A&M Conversions (I think). Couple of weeks later on AB's RR it made 208@wheels IIRC. So wouldn't say they're accurate because I agree with them.

The engine Phils talking about might not have been RR'd at AB though - I'm just assuming.

It was done at a.b the car previously ran 176bhp with dth bodies, ast1612s, headwork and a larger than stock ex mani and system, which is about 205bhp at fly about the maximum from the fast road cams, then after problems with a set of bp285s i had to put standard cams in, and it dropped to 169 at wheels but had more power to rev limit and more torque than the kent cams, i was suprised tbh, but ive also had an xe with stock inlet make 180 and 184bhp on two rolling road 200mile apart.

15% is pretty high drive train loss for a FWD... i think (not 100%) 10% is more normal.

But again - this varies!

hmm - done a quick google and seems 10-15 is quite normal.

Just looked at our STo and GTR plots and they are both about 14% loss.... but is suppose it isnt a linear scale as some loses are permanent (bearing friction, oil etc) regardless of power.

either way - use a RR to tune... not to get gospel power figures

I know wot u mean about tune and pub talk, i try and get the lads i build engines for to use my mates RR to keep it consistant between when they had lower spec to a higher spec + there the best lads round n.wales, n.west for tuning ive found.
