What are people's views on this?

I was told that I would get an extra 60bhp by doing this.

Please discuss.

How about a short piece of piping coming from the manifold and escaping through the side of the front bumper.

I saw something on TV once, these big American V8 things were banger racing, and the exhaust pipes were coming up from the manifold through the bonnet!

The best way to make power is to make sure the exhaust gases have the easiest escape route. Having no exhaust at all will not give any results since nothing is sucking the gases out. They will just flow from the engine through pressure of the cylinders compressing. A short tract from the manifold with the engine reversed like in BTCC vauxhalls from Swindon Racing engines, massive gains from this along with appropriate fuelling and air.
