well, i made an anonymous complaint to the accomodation office guys who got in touch with the manager.
assistant manager came straight up to my flat and gave one of my flatmates a lecture about how its different water in different parts of the country and we just have to get used to it because theres nothing wrong with it.
would seem that despite most people agreeing it smells bad no one else has complained.
im from 40 miles down the road and the water doesnt stink when im at home, christ when i lived in tenerife the water didnt smell bad like this and that was brown on occasion

The person is talking shit because they don't want to pay for maintanence, the hot water comes from exactly the same supply as the cold water so both should smell, but obviously just the hot does.
I would call someone outside the uni, water board or council tbh.

Depends whether its an direct or indirect supply. To me its sounds like an indirect supply and something is in the tank. This would explain why the hot smells but the cold doesnt.

Depends on the setup.. a lot of homes built before 2000 use a header tank for rooms above the ground floor and therefore the water isnt considered drinking water.

Also depends where to mains comes in and which tap it feeds. In a house it usually comes into the kitchen and feeds the cold water tap in there. Its so you will always have safe water to drink. But as obv your not at home it may be different.

Yes its clearly a storage tank somewhere that feeds the boiler and there is something in the tank.

I suspect the previous student to moan about halls maintenance has been placed in the tank.
