Thing is everything escalates so fast on motorway due to speed and the amount of traffic . A guy I worked with nodded off on motorway and hit parked traffic and he caused a 7 car pile up. Killed a dog in the 5th cars boot . Police didn't do anything either not even driving without due care . I feel sorry for the people's family's . Surely it's all on CCTV ? Isn't the entire motorway network covered?

Just drove down the M5 earlier but came off at junction 20, signs all the way down said junction 24 and 25 were closed. Not that far before there was a overturned Mini on the otherside of the road (northbound), that must of just happened as there wasnt many cars behind it.

i know it's maybe not the right time to ask this but how does one go about claiming on insurance for the car+injuries in such an incident?
surely there is so much damage and destruction to so many cars that they either claim off the person who caused the accident or claim off their own insurance?
you can't really tell which car went into which.

They are by far, but just like planes (or maybe trains) are the safest form of transport when it does go wrong it can go very wrong.

Update on BBC news. 7 confirmed dead, 51 injured, 34 vehicles involved. 4 dead in one vehicle, seems most of those killed were trapped in the fire

Anyone seen the new update? they say it could have been because of a bonfire and fireworks display next to the motorway http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-15612315
