Took them a year to trim back a tree that was overgrowing our house. I would just cut the lowest branches and leave them at the bottom of the tree. Legally you have to give the branches back.

Drilling into it and putting chemicals in will take years to kill it. We did one & took it out a year later and it was barely rotten

allegedly, chop it down, drill several large / deep holes into the stump and fill it with Diesel.

Cut half way through it then leave it. Someone else will report it and council will have to remove immediately due to the dangerous nature of said half cut down tree. New saw will take you a few minutes . Do it late on
