Right, let me try to explain this.

Put my morrettes in, sidelight on the near side wasnt long enough to reach for some reason, so decided to extend the wires - simple. Took some of the existing loom on the SXI and added it in.
Checked voltage, all was good.

I got the following -

BUT
Although I get voltage through A B C and D, the LED sidelight doesn't want to light up
But if I swapped the LED to the offside, it worked.
The offside has the same voltage, and works fine.

Checked my fuses, all good.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Marc

Your getting 12v (nearly) TO the bulb holder so you know that one is good. To check the earth you need to do a resistance check from the negative pin on the bulb holder, back down the earth lead to see if there is a high resistance
If the reading is infinite, it means there is a break in the circuit

Test at the negative pin with one probe and the back of the holder with the other, then at the back of the plug, then at point b, etc

******** Update (sort of)********

Still got this issue Been racking my brains trying to figure it out. I think i must be being a spastic.

Been out again, checked every fuse, theyre all fine.

Got the multimeter out again. I get 12.47v along the wires and 12.47v IN the bulb holder.

When i insert my LED sidelight i can reach the pins so teseted the voltage again. 0.74v

I dont understand where the earth for this bulb could be? It has a positive going one side and a negative coming out the other, that right?

Thanks for the help.
Marc

Its an LED style sidelight, it fits snug enough to touch the terminals.

Same as this.

I take it you've tried a different led in that sidelight holder? If you're getting 12v from the pins inside the holder then the ground is fine.

Yeah, i swapped the led from other side over, swapped the bulb hoder over too.

They all work on the other side, but as soon as i switch them to the side thats playing up, nothing.

Tbh, at this point, I would have stopped trying to find the fault, and just taken a spur off the + and - from the side thats working, grab a "new" sidelight holder from a scrappies and wire it in coming off the other side.

Will work fine, and will be garunteed to work, as the toher side is already working.

It did cross my mind, but tbf I don't see what could have gone wrong in the short space of me cutting a wire in the hope of extending it and adding in additional wire

It could just be a dodgey socket?

Have you tried using the not working sockets in the working side ie hold the morette whilst plugged into the other side?
It does sound like a dodgy socket or intermittent earth though. Does the problem side have a relay in?

I've swapped the sockets over from the working side, to the non-working side.

I even got another socket. That functions. But doest 'work' when plumbed in.

Got MOT next week grrr, I'm going to splice one from the drivers side over and bodge it for the MOT, then giving me a year to work out wtf is going on hopefully!

Nothing wrong with permanently running it like that if im honest, no MOT will ever pick that out as being wrong, as long as its sodlered and insulated properly, tie it into some of the loom so it looks standard, no one eould ever know
