They're actually not too bad if you don't thrash them and even better on the motorway cruising

Handling wise I loved the burgundy one, didn't even feel like a big coupe

Should be able to get a BMW E46 coupe for that, a 318 or similar shouldnt be too much to insure. Also dont listen to people who say they're expensive to maintain, just the same as a vauxhall imo.

They're 21 and want their insurance to be pretty decent, 1.8s aren't low in the insurance groups.

Mk4 golf gti 1.8t is group 29.
Astra 1.8 coupe is group 19.
318 bmw is group 31.
BMW E46 group 44.

Something like a Clio Dci 1.5 is group 7 for example.
