Depends on the engine spec. But the engine is only one aspect of the rebuild/replace cost. If anything goes wrong with the internals then the whole engine has to come out as opposed to replacing the head gasket on a normal engine for example, when you can work on the engine in situ.

Therefore labour costs are the killer. Specialists don't come cheap, mine charges £60+VAT per hour before any parts are accounted for. As Welly said though, buy cheap, pay twice with these cars.

They are 1.3 if measured in the same way as a normal engine, it even says 13B on the engine to reflect this. However when the RX8 came out, they somehow changed the measurement to double the swept volume (saying two of three rotor faces are on intake/compression, not one) and therefore the two-rotor engines were reclassified as 2.6. Some 7s are still 1.3 but the DVLA are catching up and altering them to 2.6 anyway.

yup mine was a 2.6 and a 1.3. When going through insurance it will be a 2.6 as all insurance companies are stated at 2.6
When taxing it its a 1.3 so cheap tax

ye ive always said once i get a real car i will use proper parts (mods ect)
tbh i have done with the corsa

my current plan is get it, drive it for summer see how i feel about its costs.
most repairs i will do myself (excluding engine)
i wont mod it in anyway(excluding reliability mods) untill ive decided either to keep it,

its one of those car i want to own.

Just trying to be honest with my posts, it's your choice what to do.

Good luck with it anyway. They really are awesome cars when they're working.

Just read this thread. Was pretty obvious that it wasnt legit with it being so cheap

If it's a car that you really want, i wouldnt rush into it and when you buy one make sure you have extra put to one side for a rebuild.
