Hi every one do any of you have any info on the new rules for mots i have been told hids ate a instant fail if your seat will not move forward or backwards fail and also your car must be fitted with a cat if it had one from factory. So what if you have registered your car that it has had a engine conversion and did not have a cat from factory. how will this all work when i registered my car have a xe in i was told by a bloke at the dvla if the car that the engine came from was not fitted with one your car will not need one any info would be brill

heard one while I was in a M.O.T testign station yesterday, that the Airbag light will fail the M.O.T

I asked about my airbag light at my mot recently. Advised it would be fine and pass, but after 01 March it would fail.

It's changes that I can't see a problem with, personally.
if an air bag light is on, it's a worry.
Or, if you've got an aftermarket steering wheel, make sure the wires are done properly for it not to come on.

HID's need auto headlamp levelling, glass lenses and headlamp washers.
Basically they need to be in a car that's designed to have them....

cats will only have to be fitted to cars that need a full cat test
if your car is registered on or after 01/08/1995 then you will need to prove the engine didnt need a cat
and these failures dont come in to force untill april/may this year

Mot tester told me for hid's either self leveling or headlamp washers, but will know in either march or april for definate if its 1 or both.

new mot rules come in every year just this year seems to have some bigger chenages shouldnt be a problem when oyu think of it just sort a problem as it comes or get a newer car
