I bought my corsa a couple months ago and was only given the new keepers bit, he said he was waiting for it to return in his name and would ring me to come sign it.
anyways i forgot all about it and found the new keepers bit so filled it out the other day and sent it off with a v62 form..
he now decides to tell me he only ever had the new keepers bit and never applied for 1 aswell as the owner before him. now then iv tracked down the 3rd last owner who had it and he said he still has the logbook and tax reminder.
car needs taxing and hes at work post offices will be shut by then so hes sent me the tax reminder code to tax it online, only problem with that is the tax disc will go to his house.. is there any way i can go to a post office and give them my insurance mot and explain whats happened and give them the tax reminder code???
need it asap tax ran out last night

Yeah if you tax it online you might be ok regarding the police etc and ANPR camera's.
But then you will be open to getting fuked for not displaying.

If you can tax it online and then fetch the tax disk within a couple days I wouldn't worry.
I taxed mine online because my insurance hadn't sent me a cover letter (or motor insurance certificate) to tax my car with (they overlapped around same time).
They said it'd come around the end/start of the month so I waited until the 3rd and nothing showed up - taxed it online and it came around the 7-8th.
Didn't get stopped, ticketed or anything.
I wouldn't worry about it.

What is proof of ownership then? A piece of paper saying "sold as seen on xx/xx/xxxx" with a couple signatures?

he is right the logbook clearly stats that it is not proof of ownership and this is what i can not get my head around the fact that the DVLA are putting "this is not proof of owenrship" on the log book makes you think do the DVLA still have the rights over your car ext ext

but a lot of people do not own cars they have though so its techincally correct. A receipt would be proof of purchase which would be enough in most circumstance to prove ownership
