Since im thick as fuck, I have an old PC that my dad uses, and we are upgrading to BT infinity, but it needs to be next to main phone point which is in the living room (PC is in the loft)

As its old it doesn't have wireless, is there anything you can get to plug into the PC so it can pick up wireless net?

Thanks all.

Wireless card (installs internally) or Wireless USB adaptor (as the name suggests plugs into a USB socket). And yes most places stock them although it'll be cheaper getting one from Amazon/Play/eBuyer/Scan etc than going to Pc-World/Curry's/Maplin's etc.

Not to complicate the matter but it's worth getting one that matches the speed of your router; so if your router is N 'rated', get a N 'rated' Wireless adaptor/card (Like This).

I've just this minute changed my old PC to wireless with a USB adaptor. Had to move the router next to the Sky box to get anytime+ and running cables wasn't really practical.

Only £5 off eBay and seems to be working ok so far.

I posted a cheap USB N card the other day. Worth getting a half decent brand IMO (Linksys, Netgear, etc)

Can you not just plug the Ethernet (yellow cable) from the BT hub to the PC?

Missed the bit about location; you might be better off with a set of Homeplugs (essentially network across the mains) as you might struggle with getting a wireless signal 2 floors up, certainly wouldn't be using an eBay Hong Kong special wireless adaptor as you'll have no chance.
