I've had a total loss where a 207 had rolled, every panel damaged and the repair quote was 30-odd grand

We reshell cars at my work quite alot, these cars are a lot more expensive than an aygo but I would rather my car reshelled than packed with filler and new quarters etc?!

I'd rather they gave me some money and I went and got a new one.

That's not going back on the road, it's B, but it does show that you need repair quotes even for major damage.

Its just a paperwork thing, another reason I'm paying thousands every year.

Probably saves money tbh, my saxo got bumped in the rear quarter and youd have thought it was repairable to look at it. Repair estimate was 1900 but pav was 1500

What do you do for VINs on the new shell? Do they go on a SABTVR0 number?

I meant appointing someone to value it when they could just write 'yeah its fucked'.

When more than one party is involved though you need to get an independent to say its fucked and they need to say why it's fucked.
Also detailed repair reports help with liability disputes when you can establish areas of damage, points of impact etc

What would be point if it's for breaking , only way a valuation would be any good for a b would be spares

Insurance companies need an estimate of repair before the car is categorised

No, these aren't salvage
When we reshell,we will have someone coming down from the manafacturer and laser etch the new code on, and verify the old shell etc, this isn't very often tho as a car has to be worth a lot for a 60k repair bill to be justified!

Remember we had a transporter load of new boxsters, 911's and cayennes that got damaged when the transporter rolled over.
Half were reshelled and half were written off.
No idea why they weren't all reshelled or all written off though
