Just means that a car has previously been crashed while that plate was on it.

Sounds as if the plate was on an escort GL that was written off in1998 so nothing to do with the car you are buying unless its an escort GL that was written off in 1998

10BV was on an Escort which got written off in '98 and the same plate was later fitted to the car you're doing the check on.

Yup

Had similar with the BM I had when I HPI's it rang them to query and they said the car I was buying was fine, but the plate has had previous history on another vehicle.

Mine says it was on my 95 Corsa which was written off, which is OK because its currently on a 2006 Astra.

another question slightly off topic, but saves making a new thread, i went to get an insurance quote for the car im looking at but when i give them the reg it comes up as an evo 7 but its an evo 8, as all other insurers including go compare etc all show it as an evo 8, i take it my insurance would technically be void despite reg of the car being correct as its show as being a 7?

Get a quote for the proper car without the reg then put the reg in at the end.
