Hey...

I was just wondering if there are any runners on here?

Three years ago I ran a half marathon in 1 hr 44 min with about 2 1/2 months training. I've challenged my cousin to try and crack 1 hr 30 mins at next years Reading half marathon. I ran 4 miles the other day at 7 min mile pace and it nearly killed me!

So if you are a runner, what kind of distances and what training do you follow?

I'm doing the MK Marathon 2 weeks today. I just run whenever I can really, which is usually 3 times a week. That's basically 2 runs in the evening of about 7.5 miles and a bigger run at the weekend, usually about 10-15. Doing my biggest run next weekend, which will probably be my last, of about 18 miles. I'm aiming for about 5hrs on the day. Nothing decent, but I just fancied challenging myself and raising a few quid in the process.

used to run mon/wed/fri doing about 10k and then big runs on sundays.

I started cycling last week and so far logged about 150 miles much more enjoyable than running

thats some good running there Pop, those times are about at my limits of running and ive been doing it about 5 years now. Currently tapering for next weekends London Marathon myself.
Taking 15 mins off a PB is hard task for that distance. Take a nosey around http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/forum.asp?sp=&v=8 for advice and training tips, im on there myself and find it very useful.

I honestly don't get the appeal with running. Cycling, swimming etc I can understand. Running is just so boring.

I genuinely think if I attempted any kind of long distance run I would end up dead.

I did one last year *cough* 2hrs 38 mins *cough*

I just can't get my fat arse any faster. 10k training runs 1hrs 10 mins and no faster. Ever. I was doing two or three 10k's a week but never any improvement in times..

Pfff

its not just about running 10k's. Its about the interval sprinting, hill training that goes on in between that make you faster

I'm 40 year old clinically obese and a borderline alcoholic...

I think just running is a bit of a result TBH
