Need to buy one today because its the littluns 1st birthday weekend.

Any recommendations. Most seem to be solid state and HD for a decent price now anyway, any specific I should look at? Around 300 quid?

Went for a Panasonic v100, £225. Really good for the price, full hd recording etc...just need a 16gb card and a micro hdmi cable now.

Was tempted with the sony with the built in projector, but couldn't justify the extra 100 for it, although wishing I did now for the geek factor

Being curious and not very clued up on camcorders, is there any reason to spend 225£ on a camcorder instead of 300£ on a decent compact digicam that will do good HD video?

cameras by law are only allowed to record 20mins i think of footage, otherwise they have to be classed as camcorders

I've got a DSLR already, the Nikon d60 which doesn't do video.

I did consider getting a new one, but didn't want the hassle of selling the existing and it'd probably cost similar anyway
