I paid 4 shillings 6 pence when I lived at home.

Seriously though, i'm suprised at some of the people in this thread who still live at home.

I get on well with my parents, but can't imagine anything worse than being back 'home'.

I pay £100/month, but only because I'm on poor wages. Mum has said a few times that if I earned more then is have to pay more. I do pay an extra tenner on top to cover the Sky multiroom as well, so £110 really.

I think staying at home forever is a southern thing. I was out at 19 and it couldn't have come sooner. Id have been out af 16 if my dad had his way

My brother was out when he was 19 as well... but I've seen how much he struggled, it's just really not a priority for me.

a lot of people simply can't afford to move out nowadays. gone are the times you could pick up a nice house cheap as all the investors buy these to then let out.

renting is also expensive (especially around here).

also i imagine a lot of people want to get even money to move into some decent place, rather then a shithole council estate and end up dead.

pay nothing, don't even pay for my phone bill which is £10 a month, before I lost my job I would buy food for myself and give some money to help pay for bills and such, but always help around the house where I can and fixing the cars (although it's always mine that's broken).

of course you will.

enough to be comfortable. maybe not enough to buy a ferrari and have a hot tub in the garden with the worlds finest champagne and your own personal butler.

The thing that bothers me about people who live at home, are the ones who go spanking loads of money on cars etc. If you can afford to do that then you can afford to move out.
