More specifically, if any of the R53 Cooper S models had a factory fitted LSD?

i think so but its a rubbish electronic lsd so probably not worth getting excited about

Bit of digging on google says the LSD became an option on the 2005 onwards cars.

Yes some of them did come with one, could be spec'd from factory but rumour has it that it was part of one of the packs also.

R53 post 2005 were avaliable as optional extra.

Yes, fairly. Tends to work out easier and often cheaper to fit a Quaife one (that's what I was told by Minicraft last time I spoke to them anyway)

Not in the same league as an aftermarket one, i agree but they are a massive improvement (well from an LSD Cooper S to a normal 1.6 Cooper Works (not the S Works) but the handling charactisitc should be similar)

Pretty sure all the Checkmate ones came with the LSD as standard, a lad at work had one with it from new

Most of the ones with the chilli pack came with them. Was an option pre facelift aswell I think.
