Hi all.
I currently own a 1.4 sport but looking to do a C20XE conversion in the near future, but what was wondering what they are like to live with on a daily basis.
What your thoughts?

Ran mine as a daily and it was spot on, will be better on juice than your 1.4 when not giving it beans.
Advice would be to not cut corners during the conversion and make sure you get a good lump, otherwise you run the risk of it being unreliable.

TBH i found mine, (as did most who drove it) alot smoother on the road than standard corsas.
You can drive them like a diesel, as there's plenty of torque and achieve decent mpg if you can resist the loud pedal.
Before it goes in, timing belt kit, 8v sump gasket mod and you'll be laughing.

Same as above it's just an engine in a car so no problems using it every day. I had mine 2 years after doing conversion and nothing ever went wrong with it. Best conversion I've ever done/owned tbh.

You'll find it's better on fuel when you're not hooning it about. Drove about 80 miles a day in my first one, and it was fine.

ive had 6 but only used 2 for everyday and they were smoother, nicer to drive and better on fuel then the engine that it replaced

My bro had one for at least a year and drove it hard everyday and only ever needed to replace the thermostat

Used mine as a daily for 2 or 3 years and that was doing the 70 mile round trip to work.
Best car I have ever owned for mpg.

Had alot of problems with mine tbh, that was down to bad luck mre than anything.
I would definatly be doing timing belt ad water pump before t goes in, and as said the 8v.
Once working it will be fine, my problem was changing stuff to often

Mine was pretty unreliable...lots of problems with sensors going so wouldn't have been able to use it every day.
But saying that, it was 10x more reliable than my 106!

What would be the best cheap donor car to get the c20xe engine from?

i ran my nova and corsa as dailys and they were spot on, apart from a gearbox mount and ball joints, bearings ect but very cheap to replace, always a comon problem with redtop conversions though. i had a 1.4 sport before i got my nova and that was much more juicy than the 2.0. coscast is the better head to have

How long do the ball joints/bearings last on a ex conversion? Same as a normal every day car or do they wear quicker?
