So today some retard at work decided to smash up some pallets with a sledgehammer about 6 foot behind my car.
The obvious happened. A massive piece with a nice nail in flies off and hits my car. Nice deep scratch.

I'm pretty pissed off. Spoke with a manager and he said I shouldn't have been parked there so it's not the companies fault.

Thing is. There was another car parked Infront of me. And no signs at all saying no parking. There are no parking signs all over the place apart from here. Hence me Parking there with no probs behind a managers car!

And ideas who is at fault? I think the company is liable for it!

Not exactly sure who would be at fault, probably parked there at your own risk. The store will not be liable for it though as they'll just blame it on the 'retard'. Either way there isnt a chance you will get money off anybody for it so you'll just have to deal with it and learn not to park there in future.

Depends how much you like your job, but company/employee is liable. Parked at own risk is just covering their backs against external sources out of their control like criminals etc.

Supermarkets have signs, but that isn't a warrant for staff to damage cars. If a trolley boy smashed up a car in the car park you can bet they'd pay out.

I'd get it repaired and sue the company via moneyclaim online.

Get a quote for it to be repaired and just speak with your boss and ask if hes willing to split the bill.

But at the end of the day, if your parked somewhere where you shouldnt be, its your own fault.

In addition, the company isnt liable for where you park, had it had been in a legitimate spot anyway.

tough one this. our car park is 'park at your own risk', but if someone damages it, it should be their responsibility to pay.

i once reversed into someones car at work, split my bumper and scratched his. the owner wasn't bothered though as it was a shonky 3 series but i would've paid if he wanted me to.

confront the bloke who dropped the stuff.
