sprayed my grille today and all went well until i read that its 24hrs between paint and laquer!

Anyone cut that time down and still had good results?

Can wait if its advisable as it says on the tin but it would say that to cover them or is it really worth waiting?

Depends if you plan on flattening the paint before applying the lacquer.

I tend to just wait till the paint dries as i don't flatten the paint before putting the lacquer on. Never had any bad results doing it that way either.

If you are using halfords lacquer, i really wouldn't bother waiting, its utter crap stuff anyway, and will still look flat regardless.

yeah its all halfords stuff, im not after a great finish really, i was happy to wrap it but thought Couldnt be that hard with a can!

Does say to flat before applying laquer, but not really sure why?!

Not sure i want to flat it even after the 24hrs TBH.

For the likes of a grille, i would just bash on and apply the lacquer once its touch dry. I wait about 30-45mins after paint before i put lacquer on. Gives off a good enough finish.

Things like body panels etc would need flattened so they blend in, a grille not so much.

Should always flat before laquering. Need to be careful when flatting etallics though.

i just wait until the paint is semi dry and then spray laquer comes up really well

meh i left about 5 mins between coats. i tend to be inpatient though. . . . . . . ( i think i left the lacquer a bit longer but should be fine weneva) its up to u though mate.

Dont bother flatting. I tried two spots behind the number plate to see the difference the unflatted one looked much better.

got impatient and so didnt flat and put laquer straight on!

Its turned out alright TBH, good enough shine to it, colour match aint that great but wasnt expecting it to be so overall im happy with it!

When you wet and dry it with fine wet paper before clear coat. I never do it, tried it once and ended up just messing the painted surface up by going too deep. I'm far from a pro though!
