going down the route of spot lights for the kitchen...which are better in terms of output of light and brightness?
any pictures of people's setup up in their kitchens would be great..as i cant seem to find any forums on the net for kitchens!

they also do energy saving gu10 bulbs, these aint bad but take a while to get bright . depends if your wanting to save on running costs

I found the led ones are bright, but they don't really 'fill' the room with light like

I've tried a few different LED ones.
I am yet to find one that IMO replaces a normal bulb. Even the 'warm' white ones are still not the same colour and the light spread is still not as good either.
I have heard there are some new ones ~£10 each that are meant to be good but IMO that's too high a price point to make it worth while at the moment.

The new GE 8W MR16 LEDs are very bright.
I just wouldn't bother due to expense, although I can get them dead cheap

I've got a couple from costco and a couple from deal extreme. I like the whiter colour, light spread is better than halogens and they are just as bright, the deal extreme actually brighter.
It's not particularly cheap for a decent one though.

Philips GU10 LEDs have replaced almost all the halogens in my place that get a lot of use.
Marginally more directional light (so harsher shadows) but equally as bright as the bulbs they replaced and nice light colour.
I worked out they'll pay for themselves in 2 years.

Expect to pay about a tenner a lamp and don't go less than 5w. Warm white is a bit easier on the eyes, cool white just looks too fake IMO.
They don't tend to spread the light in the same way halogens do so can look a bit odd at first but you soon get used to it.
Big energy saving though, 5w per lamp compared to 50w.
I've used loads of brands (being a spark) and the dimmable 5w kosnics are the ones I use in my own home.

What's the price on those dimmables ash? Our wholesaler is wanting over 15 quid a lamp. When you've got over 50 to convert its a lot of money

What wattage? And what they comparing it to? I've yet to find any good enough. I get massive discount on lamps so I'll ask tomorrow but let me know wattage and approx lumens per lamp

They're about a tenner plus the vat, but I don't pay the vat.
Tried all sorts, the edison fusion ones are alright as well, CEF stock them.
Philips ones were a huge dissapointment considering the price of them.

I got my brother the Phillips 1 or 10w led ones from my old work, they are expensive (if paid for) but are surprisingly bright straight away.

Phillips Masters 7w ones are fantastic, that's what my mum uses at her house and they are great but were around £30 each. I've gone for 'Auraglow' ones at mine and I'm generally pleased with them but they aren't quite as bright as the Philips ones (more than bright enough though and I don'#t regret going the LED route). We're having a lot of trouble with the dimming on them though, even though we paid extra for the dimmable ones and the special dimmer unit - I'd stick to the regular ones and you should be happy!
