Weighing up all the options for getting into motorsport next year, and I'm looking to find out how much a single seater of some sort cost? Second hand obviously, would it be possible to get one for £1000?

being completly honest you will not get anything worth racing for 1k. There are some cheap kit cars out there but I doubt they'd be race prep'd, and most likely small cc engines. Check out pistonheads things like MK Indy, Tiger, Lugeo will be cheaper than the CaterFields

Is 1k the total budget?
Do you have all the safety gear?
Do you have a race licence?

I race karts in tkm extreme class could be a cheaper option?

Kart chassis cost around 2k depending on year 2009 or lower can pick one up for less than a grand then about 500-900 for engine depending on how serious you want to take it good fun but expensive hobby!

I've got my kit and a race license, £1k is for the car just.

Forgot to add I'm after one for hillclimbs, best form of motorsport for young lads here. I'd attempt karting but it's far too dear with the regs over here.

Tbh I'd race more or less anything within reason. Looking for something less than a 1.6 maybe, something I can go for a class win in like.

Could I get a single seater chassis without an engine for £1k?
