Applying for my 1st ever passport so i can visit my mate who's recently emigrated.

Having never had a passport i need to fill in my parents info in section 4.

The problem i have is my birth mother and my dad split up when i was 3 and i've lived with my old man ever since and havent had anything to do with my mum in about 20 years, i can only get her name from my birth certificate but cant provide any other info.

Can i leave it blank on her part of the form and still send it in as normal with a letter explaining this. ?

Yeah just explain in a note. If you pay for check and send at a post office they can advise you.
