Very interesting. However I can't help but feel that this will go the same way as the batteries that could keep a phone turned on for three weeks on a single charge...

Was speaking to someone a few days back who was saying that systems like this could be the future. Use solar energy to create liquid fuels which work in existing petrol/diesel engines. Can create alcohol fuels from 'nothing' too.
He did say that government want the ext fuel to be a gas rather than a liquid, no idea why but that's apparently the emphasis on hydrogen.

Wasn't there something in a desert on America on a James May program that made fuel, can't remember proper though.

I did some research on this when in Uni, its 100% true. IIRC though it doesn't contain the same energy as petrol though
