as im going to use my redtop for track days as well as on the road is it advisable to fit an oil cooler?,possibly one with a thermostat

If it comes with it then I would,others will say you don't need it.

For elite track stuff it would be marginally better.

If its just a trackday car I wouldn't waste your money tbh. Money would be better spent elsewhere.

They come from the factory with a oil cooler, so if Vauxhall thought it needs it, I'd say yes.
They do get pretty hot on track, so I would and have in the past.

as said, vauxhall fit them for road cars so if you on track then its going to get hot, thermosat will help with warm up and if you do use it on the road. under piston oil squirters will help alot to keep engine temp down but require full strip of engine to fit.
