As above , don't know if people are aware mots have last four years mileage printed now to combat serial clockers . I've just had a guy in and in 09 had 172k 10 it had 196k 11 65k and 73 today .

I can see their being a lot of unhappy people around after their next test.

There's no law against clocking your car it only becomes illegal once you sell the car it could have 200k on it you could clock it back to 0 and its fine aslong as its not sold

Even that's not quite right.

You can reset the mileage all you want and sell the car on as long as you don't try to pass it off as having done a lower mileage than it has.

Renault scenics are bad for having odometer failures, Renault themselves will replace it with a new on, so a car may seem to have done 60k less for example. As long as this is made clear at the time of sale, it's not illegal.

New MOT thing is a great idea IMO.

Does this get printed on the receipt now or is there a new document you get with the MOT (as I didn't get much in the form of paperwork last time I had an MOT done)?

what happens when you have had multiple cars on one private plate? the history will be all fooked up if it runs it over the plate alone.

Why would it work off the plate? It works off the details attached to your vehicle on the log book etc so plate won't make a difference

Doesn't have to match, just means other people drive the car.

My mate borrows my Disco to tow his horse box and drives it TP on his policy, for example. He's not named on mine but it insured to drive it.
