ours is based on aprasial performance i.e meeting objectives

However each department gets a budget so you use the performance objectives plus other measures to split your budget across the team

Normally at least 3%

If you're in a job which doesn't at least review and appraise your position then it is time to leave or ask for an appraisal.

I've had one at least once a year since I started here, I'm not willy waving and it is a real world job. We've had ups and downs in those 6 years but even if there hasn't been a payrise, there has been an appraisal and an honest conversation about how the business is doing and why, in the case of nto getting a payrise, we've been given the reasons why

Agree with that.

I've come from jobs where we got 20p in 5 years.

It's unbelievable how good it is working for a company who actually care.

I get appraisals every year. Bt they are a waste of time, no pay rise comes of it. I work for public sector so how unfair would it be for me to ask for a pay rise in this current times!

Same stands for my dad who hasn't had one in years, but, how can he demand a rise when they're making redundancies left right and centre?

He can't, just has to think himself luck he isn't redundant. Still tough times in a lot of sectors.

What amazed me is how ungrateful people were at my meeting. Moaning this company pay this and that company pays this. If it that important. Fuck off and work there. Crazy how greedy they were.

Not one of them realised that the pay rise is cancelled out by losing double time on a Friday after 3pm. Those who don't work late are quids in.

Exactly... The amount of freedom I get at work stops me from moaning about a lack of pay rise.

Mines based on appraisal performance, but last 3 years have been poor - pay rise % has been lower than previous year, even if you're a high flyer

What pisses me off the most is seeing people on higher pay on me and they do jack shit. What happened to 'demotions'? Its like companies are too stared to get rid of dead wood and allow high flyers to pick up the salaries they deserve

We discuss our bonus structure and a pay rise annually. Basically get set targets we're expected to achieve.
