Thats the only bonus to it. My work days are literally work sleep work sleep. No time for socialising.

It is a bit of a funny shift yours with it ending so early in the morning, it'd end up feeling like getting in from a night out and so naturally having a lie in then when you get up and dressed, it's pretty much time to go back again. At least if you're doing like 6-6 you get home, sleep to the 'lie in' point and then you've still got 4-5 hours to play with before you're back in at 6.

My dad used to do Sunday-Thursday 9pm-7am ish, he did it for probably 15 years and it worked sound for him. He'd sleep till 1-2 then had loads of time before he had to be at work, my mum was part-time too so she'd be getting home shortly after my dad got up so they had half the afternoon left to get stuff done if needed. He was out most Friday nights, usually alternating, one week with the lads, one week as couples then they had all weekend bar my dad having a kip on the sofa for an hour or 2 before he started his Sunday night. All depends on the job though and how your particular shifts fall.

I've only ever done one night shift, I loved it but that's because it was a run down to Devon and back, 8 hours of sharing the roads with proper drivers, didn't have to shout once

I couldn't work days, having to get up to my alarm, worrying when I can't sleep cause I know I have to get up in the morning, having to take a day off work to wait in for parcels, engineers etc.

Just put your phone on silent and vibrate off otherwise people forget or companies ring you at 91am.

My night shifts were similar to this usually away tho for 4-5ish 4 nights a week Fridays off
Was good no traffic either going up to town

I do prefer working nights though theres less hassle than what they get on dayshift. No bosses about and extra long breaks. Plus the extra money is good too

So true, I'm first to put my hand up for nights offshore. But in fairness offshore is geared up to suit working 24hrs, working nights onshore is ball ache IMO.

Not for me, I'd get into the same shit routine I did in Uni sleeping every hour I could or even worse watching Jeremy Kyle and Loose Women.

At least half 8 to 5 I have a set structure and routine which ties in with the majority of the population.

I work 4 on 4 off nights 12 hours 7-7. Love it far better than working a 9-5 job Monday to Friday. Most of my mates works shifts also so we all try and plan stuff when our weekends fall that we are off. So its a win win for me. i only need 8 days hol to have nearly a month off. Can't beat that imo.

But your weekend night outs are ruined most of the time. As soon as mon-thurs and tues-fri shifts are done say bye bye to sat nights for a month. Fuck that.

He's also said his mates all work shifts. If shifts suit your lifestyle and your social life then obviously that's perfect. The problem for me is when you are the only one doing shifts.

Only a problem if you make it one? I've got a couple of mates that work nights and the rest work days. Only time I miss out on anything is when I do overtime at a weekend and that's through choice. And I don't do it when my mates are doing stuff. I think everyone who works days couldn't stand nights and everyone who does night couldn't stand days, you just plan life differently

I'd say my only gripe of nights is eating routine

i think its great and i do 2 weeks of each in a month and prefer nights as its a shorter week and no bosses around. Dont do anything through the week when im days anyways maybe missing a few opportunities to play 5s but thats no great loss

Easy get up have dinner snack at 9.30pm dinner/lunch/breakfast or what ever you want to call it at 1.30pm, snack at 5 then home at 7 usually just go straight to bed after dropping the wee man off at nursery

I still keep my meals semi normal thats the problem, breakfast at 1:30 or whenever I get out of bed, then lunch sometimes as late as 5 which sometimes fucks me for dinner at 7 or8, then I wonder why I'm hungry at about 1-2am

Some guys at work eat their dinner when they get to work. But they're single!
