As title ? Looking to buy one for mrs to replace her car, either 1800 petrol or 2.1 diesel depending on her insurance. Ideally the diesel . Was toss up between one of these or a 1 series but seeing as it looks terrible I've settled on these . Any common problems with them? They look a lot of car for the money

The CLC isn't the latest model.

The auto diesels in the CLC are not the 7tronic gearboxes, they're the old 5 speed autos which suck power, MPG and aren't the smoothest of changes (if you're used to a VAG DSG or a 6 cylinder petrol motor)

Which is the newest one? She would want a manual . I was looking at a 11 plate is there a later model? Power wise doesn't really matter she's coming from a new polo 1.2 so it's a big jump in power anyhow. Cheers

The newest model is the new C class coupe which is really long (and really expensive!) - think 11 plate is one of the last.

Manual fine then My uncle has a C180K (older shape) and it manages 33 odd to the gallon in auto form... if she's not doing many miles I should think you'd be able to push that up into the late 30's and make yourself a saving on buying the much more expensive diesel.

Share a lot with the previos C class (upto about 57/08 shape I think) and I think the only worry on them in suspension issues?

Dunno, haven't driven a manual one but I imagine very good, it's the box that's shite on the older diesel mercs.
