Decent deal really. Got it sorted quick. Saves any faffing about.

As said. Most parts like that are recon as such. Even my old clutch went back to vw for them to sell as a new vw part.

As a mechanic you are meant to ring the customer and ask IF they want the work carried out as they may not be able to afford the bill

I think she has a Suzuki Alto 1.1 or something like that, for those that were asking.

They shouldnt of done it, but you've got to think that you can either...

Kick up a fuss, tell them you're not paying and they will rip the new stuff out and just give you the keys back, so you'll have to get it towed home, do it yourself and never use that garage again

Or just pay the bill which isnt TOO much tbh and politely tell them next time to let you know before they do any work.
