Low taxation is traditionally a Conservative ideal though, Iirc Thatcher cut income tax noticeably after becoming PM. Labours is very much high tax, high spend.

One of the most annoying aspects of this current government is their refusal to lower taxes in any meaningful way, it's just loads of short term policies that have little real effect.

It's massive amounts of money and positions filled with people who's only job is genuinely to create work for themselves. In some cases, people creating work for other people who create work for other people, none of it needing done at all.

If that was addressed it would save billions.
