Its stuck to a plastic backing plate that fixs to the adjustment mech. Common problem is the glue fails and the glass just falls out. Can pick up new glass and backing plates from ebay cheap. Or pay Vauxhall about £40-50 for it.
Wouldn't bother with a garage. Fix it yourself its not hard.

She's getting local Vauxhall dealership to sort it. I'm away tonight and she's not keen on driving with no drivers side mirror.

£30 fitted. The gen VX one is £60 but he's going to fit a cheaper one for £30, doing it whenever she wants to turn up today too!

Quite shocked at the good price/service!

They offered to re-glue it for free but said it might just fall out again.

Mine fell off randomly. Just went on eBay and bought one for £8, stuck it on... no problems!

Same setup on the Vectra C - one of mine fell off, but the backing plate stayed in. Got a replacement Glass from Halfords which sticks on with 3M pads.

5 min fix. Around £8 IIRC.
