Sunz - Yes thank fuck, only thing was, I was missing my kevlar jeans/leathers so my knees got road rash.

Graeme, very true, I had done well to have my license a year without crashing. I knew my crash would be big, infact I thought bigger than this.
Broken back is nasty!

I'm only covered TPFT so I'm left out of pocket big time. Need a new bike and all new gear!

Tbh most bikes are insured just TPFT. Could try get a new frame and swap stuff over or cut your losses and sell on eBay as is.

My bike was insured TPFT until renewal because it was £300 vs £180. Now I've got my no claims it's equalled itself out to £130 or so. Looks nasty but you seem to have gotten off quite lightly! I have yet to crash, and dont intent on doing so

I considered this, but theres so much broken, I have no interest in spending more money on it. Just trying to sell salvagable bits.

My next bike will be fully comp, this was my first year so fully comp was silly expensive.

I never intended to crash, but we all know its going to happen, just don't know when!

Can't say I know a single biker insured as tpft.

FC, protected, everything is the usual way to go.

Count yourself lucky you got away with the shoulder, but we all learn, luckily you've lived to learn.

SV's break there quite a bit in accidents. IF you still have the bike, flog the parts on SV650.org, engine will go for £300-£400, rear wheel etc etc. Could get some cash back.

Wear your protective gear, always.

I always think its a good day, when you have an accident and can walk away, and another reason I ride less and less on the roads these days Just too much to hurt you, imagine if you were still attached to the bike when it hit the post.

What brake hoses are they ? front blue ones, I need some braided ones for my 650s, and know some do have blue covering.

Really? Most I know are TPFT. Depends on the bike and value but its very common for TPFT on bikes.

I have just renewed my bike insurance and only went fc as it was only £2 more. Cost me a whole £67 this year.

Tell you what, you'd have snapped at the welds too if you'd hit the lamp post

Most bikers I know are TPFT too tbf, Next bike will be fully comp, but thats cause I'll have NCB/license a year or so.

Mega bump, but just checking through my crash gear before I put it away, to never be used again, but as a reminder to be more careful...

Helmet was the worst part as always, It was a HJC IS16, Visor popped off the left side, can see where I slid down the road on my face, Somehow some damage on the back, No idea where that came from, perhaps I turned while sliding?

Winter Buffalo jacket did well, I had bruising to my hip, which relates to the graising on the jacket in that area, I also broke my collarbone, can see the impact and sliding in that area too.

Best bit, is my gloves, These weren't cheap being Alpinestars SP1's, Carbon kuckles got some minor graising, and theres a hole on the left palm, Perhaps this started to form before I crashed since I can't see how it got there.

3 and a bit weeks on, Collarbone is mostly healed, I'm still wearing the sling for another week, Only in pain when I take it out and try to move it too much, or try to use any strengh in that arm, Unfortnaly my other arm is lacking any strengh having not done anything manly in weeeks.

Bike now looks like this too..

Decided to have a year without a bike, Will give me time to buy all new decent gear, and a new bike, and enjoy modifying cars again.

Glad you're on the mend and nothing more serious happened. That's what decent gear is for, seems like it did its job.

Ditch the sling and start using that injured arm. just stuff like turning on the sink taps and holding drinks all helps with a quicker recovery. I stopped using my sling after just over a week and just used it for when went to bed.

Just proves that buying decent kit pays off in the event of a spill, Could have been alot worse!

As jimmy said start to use the arm that was n a sling a bit more now. When i broke my collor bone a few years ago i just left mine in the sling until the doctors told me it was of not to use it, Ended up still having my arm in the same position for months after and not realising i was doing it! Plus whenever i did go to use it it felt strange!

Just start by doing small things and build up, Bes way to do it.

I have been using my arm a bit recently, while still in the sling, took it out today and doing as much as I can but stopping anything that gives me pain.

I find myself holding my arm in the slings position all the time too lol

Now I just need to regain my strengh some how.

Even after this experience I want another bike, one even faster.

I do recommend biking, once you ride, you're hooked. Shame it's not cheap!

Friend of mine is into his bikes. Hasn't got one at the moment as he bought a Focus ST instead. Hasn't had it long and he's already selling up and using the money to get a Fiesta as a runaround and a bike. The ST is fun, but he says the thrill you get from a bike just isn't comparable.

Completely agree, if it wasn't for the need of a practical car, I'd sell the clio and buy another bike as soon as I can put weight on my shoulder.

Even the SV's lacking 65hp would propell it from 0-60 in 3.5secs or so, that's supercar fast, and you're out in the open.
