I had to read that a few times to understand what you're getting at!
What problems are you actually getting? Oil light coming on?
If so then does it sound tappy, or any worse than normal? Have you tried another pressure sensor?
As for the pick-up pipe, it can get blocked up, it could be worth dropping the sump to have a look. But it depends on the exact symptoms you're having.
As for changing the oil pump, it's a case of cambelt off, sump off, rear belt covers off, crank pulley off, then you have access.

Right okay that helps a lot!
First step would be to take the pick-up pipe off and make sure that's clear.
If it is and you still have the problem then you might well be looking at an oil pump.
I've have 2 oil pumps fail on me now. One time wrecked an engine, the other time I was lucky!
Managed to get a brand new GM pump for my rebuilt engine. I'm cursed with oil problems. Whether it leaks it, burns it or doesn't have pressure lol.

Thanks bud luckly i didnt drive her home i rac'd her back. I just hope its the pipe. With the fact that it done it the other day an cleared up i would gess that if pump fails then its gone its not going to be intermitant.
