where do i stick the machine.

does the dash lights need to be on?

does it need to be plugged in to cable via laptop, or can be used with out?

You need to install a software ( that is included with the OPCOM) install USB driver and plug the OPCOM to obd2 port in the fusebox.

Yes the dash lights need to be ON.

takes about 5-10 mins to start.. i find if i leave it, it will start on its own

Sounds like egr valve bud. I had it happen about 3 or 4 times now on diffrent vauxhalls.

As for the noise could it be exhaust blowing?

This is the most common egr valve there is another type witch is side mounted have a look on the inlet for this. About £20 from scrap yard

Yeh that sounds like egr to me. If you plug it in when it cuts out it might say i cant remeber.
