It's because they don't have the time to send you off for a proper test.

It's a shame really as I'm a position where I could take a couple of weeks out for training. Plus the training centre is about 30 seconds from me.

I have asthma and a ton of allergies, but I just self medicate and get on with it. If you're only driving and not fire fighting, this sort of thing shouldn't be a consideration.
