EPS systems do similar shit when the sensor in the column fails

have a switch in the middle of the speedo that says push here to start.

meaning thy have to put their arm through the wheel to start

when it does start - instant broken arm

Yes Munch.

It's uncommon to be able to do this as the pipes are formed to fit a certain way and most unions on rack valve bodies are different sizes.

On some push fit variants they are the same size though. You've got to be a proper numpty to get them reversed though. And it's a bad mistake to make, as the result (as you saw) is very violent and can do damage.

Why the bloke in the video left it running so long and why he kept starting it up is beyond me.

Btw, iirc, totally knackered teflons and/or a worn valve housing/assembly can possibly lead to a similar effect, but don't quote me on that, as it's been a few years and I can't remember for certain.
