I know it's normal for technology to change at a rate of knots, but it's gone a bit crazy at the moment, especially in terms of cost.
So HD then Blu-Ray, then 3D... Now 4K, and even people talking about better than 4k. 4K video cameras are now coming out, and I'll assume normal cameras will soon as well. Yet for these to be used properly you need a computer that can handle it as well. My new desk top is under a year old but can't seemingly play full 4K that well. Then you have the game consoles, will they go 4K? Will Sky soon go 4K? Just bought a new TV/Blu-Ray player/Sky HD 2TB box, so starting to wonder if 4K will roll out soon and then I'll be lagging behind.
Then you have these awesome drones with go pro on them, so I'll assume you can easily whip your videos on your computer, but if you have an old computer it probably won't handle it very well.
This is without even mentioning the rate that new phones are being churned out
It just seems a bit crazy at the moment, can't really take stock of what's going on

Will be a few years before the UK gets 4k mainstream TV, although Netflix akready does in a compressed form (I believe), The infrastructure is shit. I believe the ps4 can do 4k (?), not sure on the xbone?

4K is just a buzzword right now, with no real significance.
You can get 4K recorders and 4K TV's, but no 4K players, not counting PC's.
It's not even the correct term in most cases, as 4K is a recording format and the equivalent playback format has a different resolution, hence not 4K.
The reason you feel things are moving too fast is that you're being sold a product feature that effectively doesn't exist yet.
And no, the two new consoles do not do 4K.
4K video streaming might be patched in, but games in 4K isn't going to happen this generation.

Definately not, Xbone struggling with 1080p at 60fps on most games.

We have a 4k projector in work, it's stunning. It's used solely for running design reviews. The projection size is about 10ft high and crystal clear. As Balling says though, very limited usage outside of specialist software. Someone found got some 4k demonstration video clips and they were very impressive.
