I'm on the lookout for a new TV (one that I can actually see from across our living room) but all the remote controls feel like really shitty, low quality plastic. Are there any good TVs with decent quality remotes out there, or are there at least some good universal remotes?

No Bart, but it's a factor. We have a Philips at the moment with a milled aluminium remote, has a nice weight and feel to it.

I like the new Samsungs but the remotes feel like cheap shit. Will have a look at these Logitech things.

Don't have Sky, don't want it either.

Samsung remotes are cheap shit. We have 3 Samsung tvs and they all look cheap and shit.

I'd get a decent TV picture quality wise and worry about replacing the remote, if it's cack, afterwards

I'm not about to go out and buy a shitty TV because it has a nice remote. I was hoping someone might say "I have this TV- it's really good quality and has a nicely designed remote to boot".

Seen a Samsung with a touchpad remote, not sure if it's really useful or just a gimmick.

Re. touchscreen and Harmony remotes, I'd hate to have to remember to charge my remote. Prefer to just change the battery once every eight months.

I have an old OneForAll Kameleon 5 that's lovely to use and great quality. Dread the day it stops working.

Loewe remotes are nice build quality, but the design is so unintuitive it hurts. It's like it was designed by a guy who has never seen a TV remote before.

For reference, this is our current one.

The difference between that and my Samsung remote is like an iPhone to a Nokia 3310. I find it surprising that the manufacturers put so much effort into designing a nice TV then sell it with a crappy plastic lump.

i have a logitect one - takes a while to setup but now its one push of a button and everything siwtches over - correct HDMI inputs on AV etc

Its very good

I wouldn't get the rechargeable one though its a pain the arse

I've got the one Russ posted too, the "Wii" like pointing is actually very useful but the built in app don't seem to support it just yet, very easy to type using the on screen keyboard.

It's nice to hold and has the ability to control surround sound too, also has nfc to throw stuff from your mobile on the tv. The middle touch bit can be over sensitive but theres an option to change it I think.

The voice works but I only use it to turn on the sleep timer or just use the camera and movement
